So Far, So Good...

So far so good. The submissions have been rolling in and we have been blown away by the response. We still have more than a few tracks open so keep 'em coming!

A few things:

1. Remember, the writing submissions must be paired with an actual song that suits the mixtape's theme. We would rather not have to email you back telling you this, so please try to write with this is mind.

2. This is not an erotic or violent journal. So please do not send writing that has to do with either.

3. We would love to get a few photo submissions of old mixtapes or old cassette/cd track listings of mixes you have laying around the house. We realize that this is a long shot, but hey, it might work.

4.Deadline for submissions has been moved up to July 4th. A very arbitrary date and subject to change.

Thanks again for checking us out and we will start posting tracks beginning next week!

The First Mixtapes

The themes of our first two mixtapes are going to be pretty broad: "First date" and "The Long Drive Home"

We are seeking 13 pieces of writing based on or inspired by songs that would be put on a mixtape. The goal is to convey the mood of the theme through each song/writing while building the perfect mixtape.

Please use actual songs that we would know (anything from the Beatles and Queen to Lil' Wayne and Nick Drake).

No minimum word count, 2000 Word Maximum for Short Stories/Non-Fiction, 40 lines max for poetry.

Accepted submissions will receive an actual Mixtape of all the songs in their issue as compensation.

Feel free to query song choices if you need help.

For any questions, feel free to email us at themixtapejournal@gmail.com

Good Luck!
